1979 My lecturing style needs touching up…I seem to have reached a point where I know what kind of outline/notes I need, but the class isn’t lively enough. Response to questions is nil. 1986 Mom’s depression continues to get worse. She’s plagued by worries, guilt, and paranoia that simply won’t let go. Today she begins electroconvulsive therapy, which I hope has an effect. The doctor says 80-90% effective, and I want to believe that she’s on the 80-90% side, not the 10-20% side. Certainly the drug therapy isn’t working.
