Shared facilities
A tanka poem
I am coming off a week at a 150-year old hotel on a small island off the coast of New England. It was a fantastic seven days, and leaving was hard. There’s one thing I won’t miss: the not-ensuite bathrooms.
Shared facilities
Stumbling down the hall
he always leaves the lid up.
Yet pees on the floor.
I see him in the morning
and try to be forgiving.

Memories... Brushing my teeth in the morning, a strange man standing over the sink next to me, brushing his teeth. Seemed like such a personal moment, but I didn't even know his name.
Waves crashing against a rocky shore on a cloudy, windy day.
Suddenly commanding an audience after I had to be pushed to get out on the stage--and pushed to get off.
Every single memory a treasure.
Thanks for the giggle. Congrats on returning to your own bathroom!
