October 23

It’s only Tuesday, and I am exhausted.

1986

Had a check-up last night: I have gained 6 pounds in 3 weeks. I am up to 20 in all,I think. The total weight gain hasn’t been too bad, though erratic.

Our renter moves out this weekend. Then it’s time to:

Paint the room
Make new curtains for Kiddo 1’s room
Move Kiddo 1 curtains to Kiddo 2 room
Clean off and set up the crib
Bring the dresser up from downstairs
Put baby things in the dresser

Oh boy, oh boy!

I can really get ready now.

1997

I face a busy day, as I work to complete the research board summer $$$ proposal. It’s today or never, and I have left it too long, distracted by other things. It’s also my last trip to the dentist (yay!) at least for a while. But is it a vibrant, chilly fall day; we had frost last night. I am feeling poised for action, looking forward to my creative juices flowing again, and to hearing Kiddo 1 sing tonight.

I heard of an accident in the Baltimore tunnel and worried it was Jim. Though I knew it was not (probably, wrong time), it uncovered my old fear of his long commutes.

This quiet time in my own special corner is such a pleasure.

I heard Kiddo 1 sing again yesterday morning. Imagine me with a very big smile for the rest of the day.

2007

Now that was a day! Besides a very stressful AMST 201 class (and I believe the recording didn’t work), Nancy asked me to re re re revise the Spring schedule to include one more 400-level course (taught by me) and to change AMST 201 to be taught by 3 TA’s under my supervision. Oh, and I am teaching the senior seminar and Kiddo 2’s car needs $erious work. And it’s only Tuesday; I am exhausted.

On the bright side:

I am alive
It feels like fall
I am about to eat steak.
It will turn out fine.
I will be on sabbatical next year.

I will be too busy to write today. Why? If I am lucky, I might have time for a quick attempt at Inktober. Stupid me. And to top it off, I had frozen waffles for breakfast two days in a row. Yes, one of the recalled brands.
