The task list is filling up; all good stuff, but too much of it. (That means it's fall.)
1975
So I almost made it to campus on time. Marley ate something bad and I found her drooling and foaming, just when I was supposed to leave. So I called the vet, made an appointment for 3:30 and finally, when she seemed better, left for campus. So 10-12 at library. Class 1-3, then home, to vet, then home again to sew skirt hem, then dinner. Spent all evening sorting my first day covers, to take them to Warwick. If I can get $12-14 for them, I can trade for a current Scotts catalog. SO - out of 14 hours, I had 12 productive hours! Got up at 7 and did dishes, too. Today I go on a field trip to two factories: Worcester Textiles and Healthtex.

We lived in Rhode Island from 1974-1976. Between the recession and the relocation of the textile industry (the oldest in the country) southward and then offshore, they were tough economic times. All I remember from the field trip was the huge room full of idle double-knit machines at Worcester Textiles. They had invested heavily in the production of double-knit polyester fabrics in the early 70s. Oops.
I made a total of two garments out of the stuff, in 1972. Just nasty.
1984
The Greenbrier conference was excellent. Very productive, thought-provoking and exciting. I didn’t get to relax as much as I had hoped to, but it was still a pleasant change of pace. I feel somewhat recharged, and have a long list of things to do in order to catch up. Today was almost hectic, but I managed to get a lot done. I really need some time off right now. Luckily, Thanksgiving break is coming up. Time to gear up for the end-of-semester crunch.
1986
Parent’s night at Kiddo’s school. It is such a pleasure to hear people talk about her. She is a delightful person, even at 4 1/2.
I want this baby out NOW! But I also want this baby to wait two more weeks. I want this baby, period. I want to be able to get off the sofa without a crane.
1998
Today is bear day. I will finish and dress as many bears as I can. It is a beautiful Kodachrome fall fall, with vivid trees and clear blue skies. What a gift!

Once again, I am mystified by a memory. What bears?????
2002
I have been a very good girl. Last night I graded 7 essays, even though I didn’t want to. This morning I revised an article, even though it wasn’t fun. But it is DONE, yay!
2003
Still on Train 98 Car 11 Room 6, heading to DC. Well, we made up about 90 minutes overnight. We did seem to be flying! But I had time for breakfast and to grade two more papers, and my first appointment isn’t until 11:30. I will call Tom when I get in; perhaps he can pick me up and we can have our regular editing session. Though I did leave the paper at home, somewhere.

The task list is filling up; all good stuff, but too much of it. Today I started working on adding my friend’s name to the church memorial quilt. I realized that as my hands have become less steady, I have not given up on calligraphy. Just traded ink for thread.
