Where am I? Online I am totally fragmented, and I need to collect myselves. Oh my, I seem to be all over the place.

Stayed home from church today, but later went for a ride to Macedonia State Park. Mom took some trees from there last year.

Dear current residents of 23 Sherwood Drive: some of those nice big trees in your yard were stolen from Macedonia State Park 59 years ago.

Registration today. So far I have 17 students in my class, out of a possible 20. PM says it’s because I have a reputation for an interesting, fair teacher. Lots of good that does me! I am nothing without the PhD; teaching really doesn’t seem to count, except to me and the students.
I am anxious about the graduate program here. I hear such AWFUL things about the department from the grad assistants, and from the grad students. Dr. H is so down on the department, it’s hard to get any objective reactions from her. It seems my choice of advisors will be full professors only: two textile scientists and an economist.

After a one-year contract as a lecturer, I decided to stay at Maryland to earn my PhD in a brand-new program in the same department. Not without a few qualms. The advisor issue was especially worrisome, since I wanted to specialize in historic clothing and textiles, not polymer chemistry or consumer economics. It eventually worked out.

Actually May 24. But I got so wrecked last night than an entry was out of the question. Yesterday we were in Hartford, getting fed and providing polite conversation with Jim’s mother. But that part of the vacation is over now. The family is all visited and pacified. For the rest of the time we visit friends. Rudy, connie and people in Rhode Island. Plymouth is excellent, we can see the water from here.
Jim’s mother is a nice lady, but if we lived in Hartford, we’d be divorced by now.

Yes, wrecked. My Kiddos already know, so it’s not a surprise to them. As I have said before, it was the 70s.

Work, work, work. Mom arrives today and there is so much to do, all of it has to be done and I can’t get out of it. Probably I’ll work on it during breaks in my studying. The trip to Woodie’s left me somewhat behind, but I think I can catch up today. (This damn exam! A sheer waste of time!!)

So I have a contract with Indiana University. No sooner had I signed it, but the end of the semester broke over my head. Now it is all over, except for a couple of Incompletes I am in that pause between spring and summer. But it’s hard to focus; in fact I got interrupted at least four times.
Today’s puzzle is: Where am I? Online I am totally fragmented, and I need to collect myselves. Oh my, I seem to be all over the place.

Jo Paoletti is counting her online presences: at least 27 blogs, social networking sites and communities. About to volunteer some simplicity in that direction. Stay tuned.

For quite a while, I tried every platform that came along, to see if it would work for teaching or publishing or both. Yes, Myspace, Live Journal, Blogger, Goodreads, author page on Amazon and Facebook, and much, much more. Not sure what the count is now, also not sure I want to know.
One of my friends just graduated from OCAD with a specialization in textiles! Extremely cool stuff. His thesis was some garments he knit that were absolutely INCREDIBLE
27!?! Dang. I’m on a bunch of forums but that’s a lot!
