Back to the old drag!! Rehearsal tonight - dress rehearsal - until 10:30. Mike R, who plays the piano, quit. He was stuck up, but he was good! C, another pianist, is insisting that we use the grand because the upright "doesn't do him justice".
Yes I saw V. He's nice.

Again, I blush at my ignorance at 15. Of course the grand piano would be better for a recital than an upright. I am so sorry, C, if you are out there.
Ah, and two other comments. The italicized "nice" does not begin to replicate the swirly exuberance of the original. And the following fall, Mike R would be dead, accidentally shot by his best friend while hunting in the woods near his house.

Back in the inundation of classes. Today was incredibly difficult - very busy, very hectic, very frustrating. I got a bit less done than I’d hoped. I also did more of somethings than I’d hoped, so it wasn’t a total loss.

The crisis is over. Mom is thinking about moving closer again. The Assistant Dean has been fired and the Dean is doing an internal search for her replacement. I’d Tod her I’m interested and she seemed pleased. I’m pretty sure it’s what I want right now. It doesn’t scare me the way the dept chair job at VPI did. The Assistant Dean job is focused on undergraduate programs and advising, which I enjoy. Frankly, the idea of teaching the same courses for the next 30years isn’t terribly exciting. It feels like time for a change.

Be careful what you wish for!

Life is good. Jim has transferred to the new IKEA about 3 miles away. I saw him this morning, and every morning last week. Life is good, indeed!
How do I learn to focus?
How do I get the Big Stuff done?
How do I meditate when my mind darts around like a school of a thousand tiny fish?
I am making no sense of myself. Maybe it is the war. Maybe it is growing older. Maybe it is death. Maybe it is fear.
My to-do list is too long and has nothing important on it at all.
Still, life is good.
