Teenaged Jo was AWOL again.

I gave my oral report last night. While it wasn’t a bomb, it could have been better. I think I treated the subject superficially. Of course, I’ll never know how I did until I get my final grade. It would be great to get an A in the course, but that doesn’t feel likely. 1 down, and 8 more to go. Incredible.

The hell with going to campus every day! (See what I mean about self-discipline?)
A strange thing just happened. I was sitting on the floor reading the paper, when a pigeon flew into the window. It fell onto the deck, obviously injured. I looked at it and worried what to do. No one tales a pigeon to the vet, but I wanted to relieve its suffering. Strangling? Smothering? I even considered drowning. But as I sat there, two other pigeons came over and, as one watched, the other pecked at the injured bird until it was dead. There is far more to pigeons than meets the eye.

Cleveland was a good meeting. Now I am back, with more to do.

My veins continue to bother me. Support stockings seem to be a must. Pleasant in the 90 degree heat we’ve been having.
Odd about this pregnancy. It’s not as cosmic as the first one. The pain and discomfort are something I didn’t even dream of last time. I felt so terrific, the whole way through. Right now, I just feel fat, hot, and achy. I’ll be glad when it’s over. Hey kid, hurry up.

Be careful what you wish for.

The days back from the Wakonse conference have been restful and pretty productive. There’s been a fair amount of free time, some school events (Kiddo 2) and a few meetings. Not too bad. I need to work out a schedule (week by week, I think) so I get the work done by the time Kiddo 2 and I head for Chicago. So tomorrow - - every Sunday - - is a planning day. I will plan meals, exercise and WORK! Let’s see what I can do in about 5 hours a day. To schedule:
Finish grading
Answer all my email
Mortgage stuff
Travel reimbursement
Cancel extra phone line

May I say, screw gardening? Unless I can control the weather, it just isn’t worth it. Bulbs and other perennials are fine, the annuals and fussy plants that demand attention? Feh.
The Undergraduate Dean emailed me that I am being considered a nominee for the Center for Teaching Excellence directorship. I am not sure it is something I want. So confusing.

Golly, June 1 seems to be a perennially grumpy day. Not today though! I get to sing early music and I signed up for a drawing class.

According to the interwebs, I have been channeling the most famous grouch on his birthday!

…and this year on June 1 I get to have dinner at my favorite local brew pub TWO DAYS in a row!
Crazy how different each kid ends up, from the jump. Our first was a fussy baby, the second wasn’t exactly a dream but I occasionally wonder how much a shock it would have been if the order was reversed.
