I didn't suggest "My Favorite Things". I suggested "Happiness Is..." We voted and the theme is "Golden West". The emcee will be a bartender in the first half and a phony sheriff in the second half. The theme idea was B's but the split was mine.
We saw "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" tonight!! Boy, was it funny! Everyone who was ever funny was in it. It had the kind of stuff in it that if the movie was a drama, people would have their hearts in their throats and their eyes covered. Violence and idiocy reigned supreme.
Yes, I named my dog after B. I liked her and I liked the dog, so it wasn't some kind of snarky insult. B (the person) had a long face and expressive eyes, would do slightly stupid things and then feel really, really sorry. Her apologies were always prompt and sincere, often beyond the scale of the offense. She accidentally signed her name next to my picture in our yearbook and probably still feels bad about it.
If you knew B (the dog) you would see the similarity.

And now she’s my friend on Facebook. The person, not the dog.

Re-watched Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Comedy does not always age well; this did not.

A very nice and even productive weekend, in weird ways. I had Cub Scouts on Friday, and they had fun, even though by “meeting standards” it didn’t go as planned. Friday evening an open house with neighbors. Kiddo 1 headed off to her very first “in-crowd” teen party. According to her, 50 or 60 kids carrying on like idiots. I try not to get weirded out about what lies ahead in teen land.
Saturday I didn’t get dressed until NOON and did it feel good! I stayed home and did some writing, then did groceries while Kiddo 1 worked on her science project, which turned out pretty well.

So today I am thinking about “simplicity” again. Nice thought, but what do I mean by “simplicity”?

These student evaluations are taking forever.
Only a week and a half left before classes start. Booooo. But then another year will be half gone, then 3/4, and the SUMMER and bliss.
What will I write now? How about a limerick?
There once was a beagle named Clemmie
Who needed a forever fam’ly
We gave her a turn
And re-named her Bern
And all Suzy could think was “Oh damn me!”

This was a superb day in every way. I got little stuff and big stuff done. I cooked great food, and ran a productive meeting. I feel like I am in a brand now place.

Enjoying a mid-morning break: quiet, tea, a pear, and some gouda. The yoga class was a bit of a challenge. I learned that my knees are old.
So much work ahead of me! Classes begin in a week, but that part will be fine. I am more worried about the regional American Studies Association meeting we are hosting this spring. What will I need in the way of help? Delegation is such a mystery.

whooowee! Trying to find the meaning of simplicity! Not simple!
By the way, did you ever find the answer?
