This is an icky pen.
(With new pen) At any rate, now that I am back and the summer is nearly over, Feel much happier. There are two things I think must do.
For a while, don’t expect to get a lot done at home.
Start to help Kiddo learn not to interrupt my work.
I need to find good things for her to do(not always TV) that will keep her busy for 30 minutes at a time. (A reasonable time span for both of us, I think.)
What has worked, so far?
Duplos
“Tea parties”
Mr Potato Head
Painting drawing
Water play at the sink
Looking at books
Dress-up
Outdoor play (sand box) -though that is hard to work around.
Baths are also pretty good
Kiddo has made life more challenging, more interesting, much livelier.
This morning I spent 30 minutes reading and let her sleep late. The VCR has really helped me lately. I can get my daily yoga in either at 7:30 with the regular show or watch one I’ve recorded.

What a whirlwind summer! Suddenly one senior professor has warmed up to idea of moving Consumer Economics to Health and Human Performance, and the textile science people have become interested in being the “caretakers” for fashion merchandising, textile marketing, and apparel design. The latter is a bid for resources, and the former a bid for power. I need to alert the higher admins about this. American Studies is starting to look very good.
Comment 2024
More drama from the campus reorganization.

The last few days before school begins. There is a sense of time ebbing away, of anticipation, I am ready for most things, perhaps not perfectly ready, but really not bad. The weekend is a treat…wonderful weather is predicted, and goods times with friends are planned. It would so great to just sit on the deck and enjoy.
I am skimming as I write; my mind is busy elsewhere.

Leaving Star Island in about two hours. Yes, feeling a bit sad, but also knowing it has to end and that it has been a great week.

Today’s Tarot: Death again. Well, it’s a process, isn’t it. This year three of my closest friends moved away. It’s a challenge to keep in touch. It’s a challenge to cultivate new relationships.
Comment 2023
And this summer three good friends died.
Comment 2024
Two more passed this summer; most aspects of aging I don’t mind, but this sucks.
2023
Today I will be writing again; a to-do list of one item.
Thank you for sharing my work!
